The Fifth Annual Drug Free Fourth of July 5K & One Mile Fun Run/Walk will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the start of the 5K run and competitive walk.
At 7:40 a.m. the one mile run/walk will begin. The event will be held in the Jackson City Park.
There are three divisions. There is a men's division that is divided up into age groups. There is a women's division divided into age groups and there is a Clydesdale division for people 200 pounds and above.
Medals will be presented to the top three finishers in the 5K Run and competitive Walk for each division and age group.
The entry fee for the 5K Run and 5K Walk is $9 for entries before June 25 and $11 for entries after June 25.
A T-shirt is guaranteed for earlier entries and will be available race day. Late entries will be guaranteed a T-shirt, but it will not be guaranteed to be available on race day.
A watch will be awarded to the overall male and female winner of the 5K Run.
The One Mile Run and Walk entry fee is $1 and if participants want a T-shirt an additional $8 is required. Entries for the One Mile Run and Walk that are received after June 25 will cost $2 for entry and $9 for a T-shirt.
There will be water stations provided for the participants.
There are no refunds, as the races will be held rain or shine.
The purpose of the event is to raise awareness within the Jackson R-2 community of drugs and the problems related to drugs.
All proceeds go towards the Jackson R-2 Drug Free Schools and Community Advisory Council's Drug Education Fund. Fifty cents of each T-shirt sold will go towards the Jackson City Police Canine Fund.
