DORENA, Mo. -- Winds have died down enough to return the ferry between Missouri and Kentucky to its normal, full schedule.
Monday afternoon the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said in a news release that the Mississippi River ferry was resuming full operations. On Sunday the ferry was temporarily shut down due to high winds. Early Monday winds caused the ferry captain to evaluate every hour whether or not to continue service.
By 3 p.m. Monday, the wind had died down enough to resume full operation without the evaluations, according to the news release.
The ferry connects Kentucky Highway 1354 at Hickman, Ky., to Missouri Highway A and Highway 77 near Dorena, Mo.
