Thirty-four French and Spanish students from Jackson High School attended the Southeast Missouri Foreign Language Fair April 4, at Southeast Missouri State University. French spelling bee-- Advanced level - 1st place - Ella Farrow; 3rd place - Joe Walter; French Tongue Twister -- Beginner level; 1st place - Carol Koenig; 3rd place - Michelle Otte.

In the non-judged events, Eric Bosco sang a Spanish song, Calin Bricknell and Matt Sissom and Joe Walter submitted construction models, and Christine Stone, Matt Sissom, Joe Walter, and Cory McElreath submitted a videotaped skit.

All students attending participated in either the spelling bee or the tongue twister, and then were free to listen to other speakers or attend the live skits, musical performances or cooking demonstrations.

Lucie Lambert, Jackson High School foreign exchange student, showed slides of Lyon, France and spoke of her experiences.

Approximately 200 students from area high schools attended this year's fair. All participating schools received plaques and students were served pizza and sodas for lunch.
