Free permits are still available for the 1995 Illinois Youth Duck Hunt on Sunday, Nov. 12, and the Illinois Youth Goose Hunt, Wednesday, Dec. 27.
The youth duck hunt will be held at the Donnelly DuPue State Wildlife Area and at participating clubs of the Illinois River near Donnelley. The Illinois Youth Goose Hunt, will be held at the Department's Union County hunting areas and at participating clubs of Southern Illinois Quota Zone Waterfowl Association.
Applications for the 1995 Youth Goose and Duck Hunts are available from the Department of Natural Resources in Springfield, 524 South Second St., Rm 210 62794-9457. Questions concerning the youth hunts should be directed to Nick Herbstrith at (217) 785-8955.
Applicants must be between the ages of 10 and 15 at the time of the hunt and have successfully completed a hunter safety class, possess a valid Illinois hunting or sportsmen's license and have a 20-gauge or larger shotgun.
Youngsters who have previously received youth goose hunt permits are ineligible to apply for the youth goose hunt.
