The Department of Social Services is sponsoring a free eye screening May 26 at the Area Vocational-Technical School, 300 N. Clark, from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
The exam will be conducted by Bethesda Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology of St. Louis, with assistance from the Division of Social Services' Prevention of Blindness Unit.
People will be screened for such visual disorders as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration, as well as malformation or malfunctions of the eye.
Those who are diagnosed as having a visual problem that requires specific treatment will be referred for a follow-up.
Anyone interested in the exams must schedule an appointment prior to the clinic date by contacting the Division of Family Services at 290-5800.
