A rural Fredericktown man was injured Sunday afternoon in a rear-end accident at Kinghsighway and William.

Kevin Johnson, 33, was turning right onto Kingshighway from William Street when his pickup was hit in the rear by a car driven by Fred Shirrell, 75, of 1116 N. Middle in Cape Girardeau.

Johnson was taken to Southeast Hospital with possible neck and back injuries. He was treated and released. Johnson's wife, Fonda, and their two sons were uninjured, as was Shirrell.

The Cape Girardeau Fire Department was called to the scene in the event that extrication was needed.
