ALLENVILLE -- Four newcomers are vying for two seats on the Allenville Board of Trustees on Tuesday's ballot.

The candidates are seeking four-year terms.

Eldon Chasteen, 50, is a mechanic for Capetown RV. He moved to Allenville about two years ago.

"We're working on getting city water. We're working on getting sewers. We're working on cleaning up the town, which it needs real bad," Chasteen said.

Wanda Ross, 47, said she's been active in community projects since Allenville was incorporated several years ago.

"I think the main thing we're trying to do is help the town, clean it up so that people can enjoy living here again," she said.

Ross is a housewife.

Grace Givens, 73, said she's also interested in cleaning up the city, but she has another cause.

"The one thing that needs to be changed is the board put a franchise tax on our electric bill and the people didn't get to vote on it. The board did it themselves," Givens said. "That has to be changed."

Lonnie Lesch, also a candidate, could not be reached for comment.
