CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. -- The search continued Wednesday for a man wanted in a disturbance where shots were fired inside a Caruthersville home.
At 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, officers from the Caruthersville Police Department were called to 1311 Vest Ave. following a report of a disturbance and shots being fired from a large-caliber handgun. Upon arrival, officers, who saw two men running from the scene, pursued the pair and took them into custody.
Caruthersville City Marshal Chris Riggs said officers initially thought one of the two had been shot. After the injured received medical treatment it was determined no one had been shot, Riggs said in a news release.
"The injuries were sustained as a result of a fight over the gun while inside the residence," Riggs said.
A 31-year-old Memphis, Tenn., man was taken to the Hayti, Mo., hospital for treatment of minor injuries. A 29-year-old Blytheville, Ark., man was taken by Air Evac to Saint Francis Medical Center where he had surgery to reattach an ear that was bitten off during a fight at the residence.
Both were in the Pemiscot County Jail with charges of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action pending Wednesday morning.
Riggs said a 30-year-old man from Dyersburg, Tenn., is still being sought and is considered armed and dangerous.
The robbery victims, a 33-year-old Caruthersville man and a 21-year-old Kennett, Mo., resident, received minor injuries. They were treated at the Hayti hospital.
During the investigation, officers ordered the Caruthersville High School and Middle School locked down as a precaution until school was dismissed for the day.
