JACKSON -- Four homes in Jackson will be showcased this year in the annual Jackson Swim Team Christmas Home Tour.

The tour, the swim team's only fund-raiser this year, is scheduled for Sunday.

Homes featured on the tour include those of Paul and Kelly Rose at 624 West Washington, Steve and Carol Horst at 520 Elwanda, Tim and Cathy Goodman on Route Z in Gordonville and Gene and Sharee Galnore at 303 Florence.

Judy DeClue, organizer of the tour, said the tour is a mix of heritage and country.

"I would say the Galnore's and Goodman's provide area heritage," she said. "The Rose and Horst homes provide country themes in decorating."

The tour usually draws 400 to 600 people, she said.

"The houses this year are all old heritage homes from the Jackson area, and they've got a lot of history in them," DeClue said.

Tickets for the tour are $2 and are available at Rozier's, Select-A-Style, Mane Attractions, The Andrew Jackson or from parents of swim team members.

It will be held from 1-4 p.m. and can begin at any of the four homes.

The Rose home, a two-story Victorian at the corner of Washington and Morgan, features a wrap-around, white-railed porch and a wood deck for outside entertaining. Built in 1909, the home has large rooms, high ceilings and stained glass panels. It is decorated throughout with hand-crafted country crafts and baskets.

The Horst home features a Christmas tree in every room. In the kitchen, the tree holds dried fresh fruit, herbs, and natural wreaths. The living room tree is more formal, decorated with ornaments acquired through the years. An outside tree is hung with decorations that are edible for birds.

The Goodman home was built in 1910 by Cathy Goodman's great-grandfather for $3,705. The Goodman's acquired the house in 1987 and restored it with original furniture and fixtures. A Victrola that had been sold was reclaimed by the Goodmans and now sits in the dining room.

The Galnore house, known in Jackson as the Wagner house, was built near the turn of the century. The Galnore's have been remodeling the home for the past 15 years.

It has large rooms with high ceilings and original fireplace. An annual Christmas tradition at the Galnore home is that the Christmas tree must touch the 11-foot ceiling.

All homes will be decorated for the holidays.
