SIKESTON, Mo. -- About 300 people will gather for the 32nd Annual Farm Recognition Banquet to be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ramada Inn in Sikeston.

The banquet will pay tribute to the farming families of Scott, New Madrid, Stoddard and Mississippi counties, four in particular.

The four families to be honored are the Joe Schwartz Sr. family of north Scott County, the Robert Jackson family of Charleston, Mo., the John Davis family of Dudley, Mo., and the Jerry Hayes family of Marston, Mo. These families represent 40 family members involved in farming.

Highlights of the banquet will be a video presentation featuring the four honored families. The honorees will then be introduced and receive a plaque.

The Sikeston Jaycees will also honor an area beginning farmer with its Outstanding Young Farmer Award. The Sikeston Chamber of Commerce will also announce its Farm Woman of the Year and the recipient of its Agri-Business Service Award.
