DALLAS, Mo. -- Four Fair Grove, Mo., residents are dead after a state conservation officer found their small boat capsized on the Niangua River in southwest Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol's Water Patrol Division identified the victims as David Dixon, 68; Doyle Cowin, 62; Hubert Highfill, 43; and Jesse Highfill, 11.
Dixon was airlifted to a Springfield hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The other three victims were pronounced dead at the scene by the Dallas County coroner.
Investigators say the four were on the river for a fishing trip and had planned to return home that evening.
