STEELE, Mo. -- Two adults and two juveniles face charges in connection with a fire set at Joe Saliba Park.
On Sept. 22, Steele Police received a report of a fire set inside the men's restroom at the park.
"Upon arrival, officers found burned paper on the floor inside the restroom. Fortunately, there was no structure damage; the trash can was also missing from the restroom but was later recovered," said Steele Chief of Police Billy Joe Stanfield. He said the trash can also was damaged by fire.
During the investigation, Stanfield reported he interviewed several people. On Oct. 8, officers arrested two 17-year-old men from Steele in connection with the fire.
The suspects admitted the fire was deliberately set inside the restroom, Stanfield stated in a news release.
The two 17-year-olds were charged with negligent burning and property damage. They were released from custody with summons to appear in Steele Municipal Court.
The two juveniles, also from Steele, were turned over to the Pemiscot County Juvenile authorities.
