BENTON -- Four were arrested over the weekend by Scott County Sheriff's deputies in connection with manufacturing methamphetamine.
Two men and two women were arrested at a Benton residence on Friday, said Sheriff Bill Ferrell. A tip had been received by someone who smelled a suspicious odor coming from the residence at 24025 Highway 61, where Vernon D. Kincade, 42, and his wife, Joyce M. Kincade, 35, live. After obtaining a search warrant, deputies found articles used to manufacture methamphetamine, along with completed methamphetamine, Ferrell said.
The Kincades were arrested. Also arrested were Michael L. Penrose, 35, of Benton, and Theresea D. Smith, 50, of Charleston. They were charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine and possession of chemicals. Bonds have been set at $200,000 each.
