ST. LOUIS -- The president of the Danforth Foundation in St. Louis says a draft plan for the future of the Gateway Arch grounds still appears to be inconsistent with its vision for the site.
The National Park Service issued its latest draft Thursday, which doesn't make clear if a major new attraction would be allowed on site -- something the foundation has sought.
The Danforth Foundation said in the fall that its prospects for making a $50 million contribution to a project on Arch grounds had declined, due to deteriorating financial markets.
Foundation president Peter Sortino said Friday the foundation will provide some financial help if the National Park Service comes back with a proposal it can support.
