A former Kelly High School teacher facing a felony charge of sexual contact with a student in Scott County is now facing the same felony charge in Cape Girardeau County.

Documents from Cape Girardeau County prosecuting attorney’s office said Lindsey J. Limbaugh has been charged with two counts of E felony sexual contact with a student for alleged acts that occurred May 10, 2023, in Cape Girardeau.

A probable-cause statement written by a law enforcement officer whose name has been redacted says Limbaugh and an unidentified student said during an interview with Scott County authorities that Limbaugh and students were on a field trip with students to a Cape Girardeau park.

The unidentified student suggested he and Limbaugh go to a men’s restroom at the park. While inside, the two kissed, and the student touched Limbaugh sexually.

In Limbaugh’s interview, she consented to kissing the student but denied consenting to being touched and “removed his hands at both attempts of him trying to place his hand down the front and back of her pants.” According to the statement, the two were in the restroom for about two minutes and left after Limbaugh received a call from another teacher indicating the group was about to leave the park.

In the Scott County case, Limbaugh faces a felony charge filed Nov. 7. A probable-cause statement says Limbaugh admitted to having a sexual relationship with a student. The physical relationship began with the two “making out” in the student’s truck at a car wash and escalated to sex acts at the student’s house.

Because of the redactions, it is unclear if the cases involve the same student.

Limbaugh is a 2003 graduate of Kelly High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Exceptional Child Education in 2009 and a Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership in 2011 from Southeast Missouri State University.
