A former Scott City police officer is on probation after pleading guilty to a felony drug distribution charge.

Samuel J. Lincoln, 26, of Whitewater pleaded guilty in September to possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, a felony, court records show.

Last month, Circuit Judge Benjamin Lewis suspended Lincoln's sentence and placed him on five years of supervised probation.

Lincoln and former Scott County deputy Ivan Norman Brant Jr., 37, of Scott City were charged in May in connection with a monthslong investigation by the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force.

Brant pleaded guilty in August to a charge of possession of a controlled substance and was placed on five years of probation.

A probable-cause affidavit filed in connection with the case states that Jay Holcomb of the Missouri State Highway Patrol was investigating a claim by a Jackson police officer that Lincoln had offered to sell him testosterone.

The Jackson officer made a recorded call to Lincoln to arrange the sale, Holcomb wrote.

During the call, Lincoln said the testosterone was available, and he could sell it to the officer for $200, Holcomb wrote.

After the call, Holcomb interviewed Lincoln, who admitted he had bought and used testosterone in the past and had planned to acquire some from another person that evening to sell to the Jackson officer, Holcomb wrote.

Under the terms of his probation, Lincoln must obey all laws; maintain full-time employment or be enrolled as a full-time student; complete an intake program; and pay $528.50 in court costs.
