CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Chris Doemel, formerly of Cape Girardeau, has been chosen to perform with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra during their upcoming New York City tour.
Doemel currently serves as principal French horn player with the Macon, Ga. Symphony Orchestra and is a member of the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra.
He performs regularly with many of the orchestras and chamber ensembles in the Southeast. He recently returned from a tour with the Atlanta Brassworks, on of the south's premiere brass quintets.
Doemel performed on the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's Grammy Award winning recording of Benjamin Britten's "War Requiem."
He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1982. He received a master of music degree from Florida State University and served for three years as solo and principal horn with the U.S. Army Forces Command Special Band at Ft. McPherson, Ga.
He is the son of George and Shirley Doemel of Jackson.
