CAPE GIRARDEAU - The Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity at Southeast Missouri State University is sponsoring a canned food drive to benefit the men and women serving in Operation Desert Storm.

"It is our goal through this canned food drive, to relieve a small portion of the financial burden placed on area families by the absence of the men and women involved in Desert Storm," said Keith Essmyer, vice president of the fraternity.

The food drive will run through Feb. 23. Area residents can drop off cans in collection barrels placed at the following locations: Schnucks, Del-Farm, Wal-Mart, Kmart, and both Food Giant locations. Cans can also be dropped off at the Lambda Chi Alpha House located in Building H within the Southeast Missouri State University Greek Complex.
