The Southeast Missouri Food Bank, which was searching for donors interested in its state tax credits before they expired at the end of March, has received an extension.
The Missouri Department of Economic Development granted the food bank a 12-month extension to use its Neighborhood Assistance Program tax credits. Through the program, eligible donors to the food bank can receive Missouri income tax reductions equal to 50 percent of the value of their donation.
In the final weeks of March, the food bank received $40,000 in donations, using $20,000 of its tax credits. The organization has $230,000 remaining in tax credits to use. The funds raised will go toward a new warehouse for the food bank, which has outgrown its current location.
