BENTON -- Residents of Scott County received more than $1.6 million in loans and grants from the Farmers Home Administration in fiscal 1993, the agency announced.
Farmers, ranchers and prospective homeowners who were unable to obtain credit elsewhere took advantage of the FmHA funds to buy repair, expand and improve properties.
Four farmers in Scott County received direct loans from FmHA for farm ownership and farm operating expenses amounting to almost $200,000. The agency provided loans for single-family homes for 35 low-income Scott County residents. FmHA helped three moderate-income residents become homeowners through guaranteed rural housing loans totaling $127,150, and guaranteed $544,200 in farm operating loans and $243,600 in farm ownership loans.
