The flute and percussion duo Windfire will perform at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Academic Auditorium.

John and Paula Kasica's program will include music from the Kabuki Theatre, scarf dances of Argentina, Civil War fife and drum flourishes, Vaudeville and more.

Tuesday's concert is presented by the Southeast Missouri Concert Association.

John Kasica has presented the American premieres of two major marimba concertos -- with the North Carolina Symphony in 1983 and with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra in 1986 during the latter's tour of the Far East.

As a chamber music soloist, he has appeared with the Music Aeterna in New York City, Suzuki and Friends in Indianapolis, and Da Camera in Houston, as well as Chamber Music of St. Louis.

He has made more solo appearances with major U.S. orchestras -- 50 -- than any percussionist in U.S. history.

A native of Arlington, Ill., Paula Kasica received her bachelor of music degree in performance from the St. Louis Conservatory of Music.

She has appeared as a soloist with the Webster Groves Symphony and the University City Symphony, and has performed with the Opera Theatre of St. Louis, the Aspen Music Festival and the Grand Teton Music festival.

In 1990 and 1991, she received the talent award in the Mrs. Missouri-America Pageant.

She has recorded for Hosanna Music and for New Earth Productions.

Tickets are $10 for the general public and $7 for senior citizens. Admission is free for students with a university ID, and for children accompanied by an association member or paying adult.

In addition, Windfire will perform Monday morning at Jackson High School and Monday afternoon at the Washington School cafeteria. These performances are being sponsored by the Department of Music at Southeast.
