The Cape Girardeau Public Health Center will offer a flu shot clinic between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday at the Osage Community Centre, 1625 N. Kingshighway.
LaDeva Enderle, public information officer for the health department, said that the agency has received 600 doses of vaccine. Inoculations will be given until the supply runs out and no shots will be administered prior to 8:30 a.m.
The vaccine will be administered only to those adults age 65 and over, persons age 2 to 64 with serious underlying medical conditions, children 6 to 23 months old, pregnant women with a note from their physician, nursing home and long-term care facilities residents, health-care workers with direct patient care, children and teenagers six months to 18 years on chronic aspirin therapy, out-of-home care givers and household contacts of children less than 6 months old.
Medicare and Medicaid will be accepted; otherwise there is a $15 fee.
In addition to the 600 doses at the health department, Enderle said, nine other local health-care providers will receive vaccine for a total of 1,170 doses for the county for December.
