Southeast Missouri hasn't seen significant rainfall since last week, but floodwaters are still causing some state roads to be closed in MoDOT's southeast district.
Several of the flooded roads are in low-lying areas near the Mississippi River like Mississippi County and New Madrid County. Others, like Highway W in Scott County, are closed due to damage. A bridge on Highway W was compromised by flood waters during record-breaking in March.
In Wayne County Highway FF from Highway 67 to Highway 34 is still closed due to high water in Lake Wappapello.
In some places MoDOT personnel report people are still driving around barricades, trapping themselves in several feet of water. MoDOT urges drivers to pay heed to barricades and "road closed" signs.
