The deadline for Cape Girardeau's city flag contest is 5 p.m. Friday.
All entries for the contest, which include designs for the official city flag and a children's flag, must be turned in to the city manager's office at Cape Girardeau City Hall, 401 Independence.
Vision 2000 and the Class of 2000 are coordinating the contest.
Project coordinator Melvin Gateley said interest in the contest has been "very good, and we're assured of a number of entries."
Judges will narrow the number of entries to a "reasonable number" during the first week of March, and the finalists will be displayed for public voting to choose the winner, Gateley said.
Contest packets are available at the Cape Girardeau Public Library, city hall and the Convention and Visitors Bureau. The contest is open to Cape Girardeau residents only.
