Five people were injured in three separate accidents in Southeast Missouri Sunday.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said three people were hurt early Sunday along Highway 34 in Bollinger County.

A car driven by James Barlow, 21, of Delta skidded across the center line and struck a truck driven by William Hill, 40, of Sikeston.

The patrol said the two vehicles struck nearly head on. Barlow and a passenger in his car, Jimmy Erlbacher, 26, of Delta, and Hill all received serious injuries and were taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Barlow was reported in serious but stable condition Sunday night, according to a hospital spokesperson. Hill was in surgery late Sunday night, the spokesperson said. A condition report on Erlbacher was not available. The accident occurred at 12:22 p.m.

In a separate accident in Scott County at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, a 23-year-old Jackson man received moderate injuries when the car he was driving ran off the road and struck a tree. The patrol said John Maloney was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital by a family member.
