WAPPAPELLO -- A group of handicapped anglers will spend the morning on Wappapello Lake Saturday in a special event designed introduce lake fishing to individual who are normally restricted to bank fishing, or no fishing at all.

"The Missouri Department of conservation will provide a free, one-day fishing permit for those participating in the event," said Michael McClendon, of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. "This special day will give 20 permanently disabled anglers a chance to enjoy a morning on beautiful Wappapello Lake."

The Wappapello Lions Club is hosting the one-day event. The group will leave from People Creek Recreational Area Boat Ramp at 8:30 a.m.
