WAPPAPELLO -- Fishing at Wappapello Lake is good, according to reports from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

"The water is clear and normal and bluegill and catfish are good," said spokesman Michael McClendon. "Bass are fair on plastic worms and spinner baits, especially early in the morning and late in the evening."

Crappie fishing was reported scattered.

Fishing is also reported good at three other area lakes Duck Creek near Puxico, Lake Girardeau at Crump and Clearwater Lake at Piedmont.

The Missouri Department of Conservation reports that the water level at Duck Creek and low and vegetation is heavy. But, bass are hitting good on spoons and worms and catfish and bluegill are hitting worms.

The water level is good at Lake Girardeau, where catfish is good on worms and bluegill are taking crickets.

Most species are hitting only "fair" at Clearwater Lake, but trotline fishing is producing some good catches of catfish.

Reports from other Missouri lakes include:

Bull Shoals: Clear water and about seven feet above normal. Black bass good in brush along shoreline using spinner baits and crankbaits, catfish good on trotlines and juglines using natural baits, bluegill good in brush using worms.

Lake of the Ozarks: Waters clear, black bass good on brown plastic worms, jig and frog baits around docks and brush piles. Crappie fair and catfish good on prepared and natural baits in coves.

Mark Twain: Water clear and normal, bass good on crankbaits and soft lures in four to 10-foot depths, crappie good on minnows and pink and green jigs at 10 to 15 feet.

Norfork: Water dingy, about two feet above normal. Catfish good on limb-lines and trotlines using natural baits, bluegill good using worms and crickets, all other species fair to poor.

Table Rock: Water clear, about foot above normal. Catfish good on worms, black bass good on plastic worms, sunfish good on worms, all other species poor.

Truman: Water dingy, black bass good in shallows early and late on topwater lures amd midday off rocky points on plastic lures, white bass good trolling flats and mouths of coves early and late on Roadrunners, spots and traps, catfish good on trotlines in coves on shad. Crappie only fair.

The report on trout areas is as follows:

Bennett Spring: Clear, normal, trout good.

Maramec Springs: Clear, normal, trout good.

Montauk: Clear, normal, rainbow trout good in early a.m..

Roaring River: Clear, normal, trout good.

Streams are mostly clear and normal with fishing success ranging from poor to good.

Black River: Clear, normal, all species fair.

Castor River: Clear, low, all species poor.

Current River: Clear, normal, all species poor.

Eleven Point River: Clear, below normal, all species fair.

Meramec River: Clear, normal, black bass fair on spinner baits and minnow type lures, catfish fair on trotlines using minnows and crayfish.

Lower Mississippi River: Murky, normal, catfish best catch on pole and line, trotlines and jugs, all species fair.

Lower St. Francis: Muddy, rising, all species poor.
