The weekly fishing report from the Missouri Department of Conservation:
RIVERS
Black (above Clearwater): Clear, 3 1/2' above normal; bass and goggle-eye good on worms; all other species poor.
Bourbeuse: Muddy, high; all fishing slow.
Castor (above Zalma): Clear, normal; catfish good on minnows; bass good on minnows and artificial lures; goggle-eye and sunfish good on crickets, small minnows and worms.
Current: Dingy but clearing, 1' above normal; goggle-eye and bass good on all lures; all other fishing fair.
Jack's Fork: Clear, 1/2' above normal; smallmouth bass and goggle-eye good on Rebels jigs and worms; all other fishing slow.
James (below Hooten Town): Muddy, high; catfish fair on worms and stinkbaits; black bass fair on worms; goggle-eye fair on beetle spins; all other fishing slow.
Mississippi (below Charleston): Clearing, high but falling slowly; catfish fair using nightcrawlers and crayfish on pole and line and trotlines; all other fishing slow.
Mississippi (above St. Louis): Muddy, 5' high; fishing slow for all species. Closed to boating from Lock and Dam 25 to mile marker 167 below St. Louis.
St. Francis (below Wappapello): Muddy, high; catfish fair on trotlines; all other fishing slow.
St. Francis (above Wappapello): Clear, normal; bass good on minnows and artificial lures; catfish good on minnows; goggle-eye and sunfish good on crickets, small minnows and worms.
LAKES
Clearwater: Clear, 15' above normal; black crappie fair on minnows and crankbaits using trolling method; bass fair on topwater lures; bluegill good on crickets and minnows; catfish fair on small bluegill using juglines and trotlines; all other fishing slow.
Duck Creek: Clear to dingy, full pool; crappie fair on jigs; bass good on live and artificial bait; bluegill fair to poor; vegetation 65 percent.
Lake of the Ozarks (Bagnell Tailwaters): Normal, muddy; catfish fair on natural bait; white bass fair on spoons; all other fishing slow.
Lake of the Ozarks (Glaize): Murky to muddy; catfish and white bass good; crappie and bluegill fair; all other fishing slow.
Lake of the Ozarks (Gravois): Murky; catfish good; black bass fair; crappie slow to fair; white bass slow.
Lake of the Ozarks (Niangua): Stable, clearing; black bass good on top water lures and crankbaits in the back of coves; crappie fair to good using minnows and jigs over brush at 8' deep; catfish and walleye poor; sunfish good on worms.
Lake of the Ozarks (Osage): Murky to muddy; catfish and white bass good; crappie and bluegill fair; all other fishing slow.
Little Dixie: No report given.
Table Rock (James River Arm): Clear, 2 1/2' above normal; bluegill good on plastic bait and nightcrawlers while drifting; catfish good on trotlines and limblines; white bass fair early morning and late evening, trolling during the day; black bass fair to good early morning and late evening on top water baits, during the day on nightcrawlers along timber points; goggle-eye fair on nightcrawlers and beetle spins; all other fishing slow.
Taneycomo: Colored, good; rainbow trout good ranging 10-12' depths; brown trout fair on Power Baits, corn, salmon eggs and worms.
Wappapello: Murky, 8' above normal; discharge 3200 CFS, 333.55 tailwater; catfish good on worms; bluegill good on crickets and worms; crappie and bass fair. NOTE: Anglers are encouraged to harvest bass under 11 inches (daily limit 6) to reduce the numbers of small bass in Wappapello Lake.
TROUT AREAS
Bennett Spring: Off color, slightly up; trout good.
Maramec Spring: Clear, normal; fishing good.
Montauk: clear, normal; rainbow trout good in early a.m.
Roaring River: Clear, above normal; trout good.
June 10 & 11 are free fishing statewide in public water. Anyone can fish without a permit, trout stamp or daily tag. All fishing regulations remain in effect.
