First tigers moved off Missouri property

ST. LOUIS -- Owners of an eastern Missouri animal park began moving animals to Oklahoma as part of a plan to shut down the farm after a tiger attacked a volunteer.

About 20 big cats were loaded up Saturday for transfer to a facility in Wynnewood, Okla.

Owners of Wesa-A-Geh-Ya in Warren County said Friday that eight lions, four or five tigers, four Arctic wolves, a bear, a cougar and a leopard will be transported to the G.W. Exotic Animal Memorial Park.

They said homes have not yet been found for about 30 other exotic animals.

Volunteer Jacob Barr had part of his leg amputated after the attack in which a tiger jumped a fence Aug. 3 at Wesa-A-Geh-Ya. The tiger was shot and killed.
