Individuals or organizations planning to operate a fireworks stand in Cape Girardeau County are being reminded to acquire a county merchants license.
The cost of a merchants license is $25 and is available from either the Jackson office in the Administrative Building at 1 Barton Square or the Cape Girardeau office in the courthouse annex at 44 N. Lorimier St. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including the noon hour, Monday through Friday, according to a news release issued by Cape Girardeau County Collector Diane Diebold
A state license also is required for each stand, according to the release. Owners may contact the Division of Fire Safety in Jefferson City, Mo., at 573-751-2930 for more information.
Fireworks stands may be operated in the county from Thursday to July 10; however, each city within the county may have a local ordinance stating different time frames.
