Two people were injured Saturday during a crash at Highway 34 and Cape Girardeau County Road 349 at 1:50 p.m. Saturday, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. Two people were injured Saturday during a crash at Highway 34 and Cape Girardeau County Road 349 at 1:50 p.m. Saturday, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

A firetruck driven by Kenneth W. Robertson, 55, of Millersville was operating as an emergency vehicle with its emergency lights and siren activated, the report said. It traveled south through an intersection and struck an eastbound 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Ashlynne B. Shrum, 20, of Jackson, the report said.

Robertson was taken to Southeast Hospital by private vehicle. Shrum was transported by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the report said. According to the report, damage to the firetruck was extensive and the Tahoe was totaled.
