MILLERSVILLE - Two area firefighters were recognized Sunday evening for their service to the Millersville Rural Volunteer Fire Department since it was founded in 1977.
Ray Propst was honored as he retired as a firefighter. Approximately 75 people were on hand for the banquet.
Roy Wendel was honored as the 1993-94 Fireman of the Year, which is presented to the member who attends the most training sessions and gives the most hours of service to the department each year. Wendel was selected for the honor by his fellow firefighters.
"We want to congratulate these two dedicated volunteer firemen who donated their time and talents to serve their community as volunteers for the past 17 years," said Milt Mouser, president of the Millersville Rural Fire District.
