Cape Girardeau firefighters battled a structure fire Sunday afternoon at a Themis Street apartment.
The fire occurred around 3:50 p.m. at 739 Themis St., Apt. 2, according to battalion chief Steve Niswonger.
The two-story building had light smoke showing on the north and west sides of the structure when firefighters responded. About $10,000 worth of damage was estimated by the time the fire was out, and one occupant was treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen of the unit while the occupant was cooking.
