By Monday evening, Rolla had 14 backup power generators running to provide essential services and light the downtown area.

Stoffer said he believed it would be 24 to 48 hours before power was restored.

Tim Fox, a spokesman for AmerenUE, said crews were expected to work overnight to restore power as quickly as possible.
