CAIRO, Ill. -- Officials from the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating a Sunday night fire in Cairo.

The fire hit a house on Poplar Street, according to Capt. Tronzo Graham of the Cairo Fire Department. Graham said the circumstances surrounding the fire were suspicious, which on Monday led to the involvement of the state fire marshal's office.

Graham said further details about the fire could not be released as of Monday afternoon.
