A fire destroyed about half of a Jackson residence but did not cause any injuries Sunday afternoon.

Fire departments from Jackson, Cape Girardeau, Fruitland, Millersville and Gordonville responded to the fire that began in a quadplex at 3155 E. Main St.

Jackson assistant fire chief Randy Davis said on the scene there were residents home at the time of the fire, but they evacuated safely.

The fire’s cause was under investigation, he said.

“It got into the attic and then spread across to the other unit,” he said.

The other three units were unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Davis said the two units most affected by the fire appeared to be total losses. The other two units sustained less severe damage.
