SEDGEWICKVILLE, Mo. -- An early morning fire today destroyed a home on Route EE in northern Bollinger County.

The Sedgewickville Fire Department was called to the home of Meredith Statler about 2-1/2 miles west of Route K at about 5:30 a.m., fire chief Nelson Palmer said. When firefighters arrived about 10 minutes later, the home was fully engulfed in flames.

Statler told firefighters that she had been having some trouble with the electric circuits in the old log home, which Palmer estimated was originally built about 100 years ago. Additional rooms had been added to the original structure, he said.

No one was injured in the blaze, Palmer said. The cause of the fire is undetermined, he said.

The North Bollinger County Fire Department and the Biehle Fire Department from southern Perry County assisted in putting out the fire. The Red Cross and the Bollinger County Lions Club are providing help for Statler to recover from the fire, Palmer said.

Firefighters left the scene about 9 a.m., he said.
