The Velo Girardeau Bicycle Club Mother's Day ride Sunday will a 50-mile jaunt to the Procter & Gamble plant and Trail of Tears Loop.

Riders will leave from Kent Library at 2 p.m. Gene Pulley will be ride leader.

Illinois and Missouri "Fishing Prospects" are now available to anglers.

The new Missouri fishing guide is available by contacting the Missouri Department of Conservation, Jefferson City, Mo., 65102.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. The dates for "Free Fishing Days" have been established for Illinois.

The state will permit four free fishing, June 11-14.

Missouri also allows "Free Fishing Days." The dates will be announced later.

Paul Crosnoe of Cape Girardeau was winner of a deer rack contest sponsored by Jeff Miller, taxidermist from Scott City.

Crosnoe received a free mount of his deer. The spread of the deer's rack measured just over 25 inches.

MOUND, Minn. The new 1993-94 Federal Duck Stamp will be issued in Mound, Minn. July 1.

"Canvasback Station," a temporary postal unit to be set up at Mound for the First Day of Sale Ceremony for the new stamp, which features a pair of canvasback ducks by Mound artist Bruce Miller. Mound is located 30 minutes from downtown Minneapolis.

Miller is winner of this year's Federal Duck Stamp contest.

Funds from the sale of the stamp are used to purchase and protect vital wetlands for waterfowl and numerous other wildlife species. Since the inception of the Duck Stamp in 1934, the program has generated more than $414 million to acquire more than four million wetland acres.

All waterfowl hunters, 16 years of age and older, must purchase a duck stamp to hunt waterfowl.
