ARCADIA The highest point in the state will officially be dedicated as a state park Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

David Shorr, director of the Department of Natural Resources, will deliver the dedication address at Taum Sauk Mountain. The dedication is being held in conjunction with the fifth annual Ozark Trail Day.

At 1,772 feet above sea level, Taum Sauk Mountain is the highest point in Missouri. The 6,508-acre park also contains Mina Sauk Falls, the highest waterfall in the state.

The Veto Girardeau Bicycle Club will conduct a 41-mile ride into North Scott County Sunday. Riders will meet at Scott City High School at 1:30. Bob O'Grady is the ride leader.

The May 9 Mother's Day ride will a 50-mile jaunt to the Procter & Gamble plant and Trail of Tears Loop. Riders will leave from Kent Library at 2 p.m. Gene Pulley will be ride leader.

A survey of more than 2,000 recreation vehicles owners indicate that three out of four owners plan to use their RVs more this summer than last.

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association survey revealed that RVers were going to travel farther from home in 1992. A total of 87 percent said they expected to roll up more miles 4,100 on average.

Favorite destinations for the summer included Orlando/Disney World; Florida beaches; Branson, Mo.; and Great Smoky Mountains.
