CAPE GIRARDEAU -- A map to the maze of financial aid will be presented at a workshop for parents and students at Cape Central High School Jan. 15.
The program begins at 7 p.m. in CHS choral room 101.
"Kids often think they do not have the money so they can't attend any post-high school programs," said Orville Krauss, counselor.
But he said several methods of financing a college or technical school education are available if people know where to look.
"The kids who are deserving and are wanting to go to school will be able, we think, to find the financial aid," Krauss said.
"We hold this workshop each year to establish some kind of bridge between the financial aid that is available and the students and parents," Krauss said.
He said information will be available about scholarships, federal and state financial assistance and loans which are available to students.
"We will discuss what's available and the procedure. There is a lot of paper work, and once in a while someone will get lost in the shuffle," Krauss said. "We are hoping to give them a place to start."
