The Missouri Conservation Commission has confirmed the name, "Chalk Bluff Trail Access" for an 82.5-acre tract on the St. Francis River in Dunklin County.
The Commission also accepted two land gifts from Dunklin County 40 acres as an addition to Ben Cash Memorial Wildlife Area and 35 acres as an addition to Hornersville Swamp Wildlife Area.
The Commission also approved the purchase and partial donation of 317 acres in Boone County, as a multiple-use state forest.

WAPPAPELLO Crappie fishing has been good at Lake Wappapello recently.
"Fishing in general has been good in the lake," said Michael McClendon, a U.S. Army Corps of engineers spokesman. "Crappie are hitting a number of baits and have been especially good when minnows are used."
He added that bass were hitting on spinner baits.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. More than 30 turkey calling champions will compete in the National Wild Turkey Federations's Grand National Turkey Calling Championships to be held Feb. 21-22 at the Indianapolis Convention Center.
Preliminary rounds will start at 1:30 p.m. the first day. A dozen finalists and the defending champion, Dempsey White of Natchez, Miss., will face off for the title rounds at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 22.

JEFFERSON CITY The 1992 Fishing Prospects report from the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is now available.

The guide includes prospects for 24 lakes and 13 streams. In addition to tips on where to find fish, the guide provides helpful hints on how to catch them, the best time of year to fish for certain species and changes in fishing regulations. These tips are particularly helpful when fishing unfamiliar waters.

JEFFERSON CITY Turkey hunters have until March 2 to get their applications in the mail for managed turkey hunts in the St. Louis area.
Forty permits will be available for hunts at August A. Busch Memorial Wildlife Area and 75 permits will be available for hunts at Weldon Springs Wildlife Area. Hunters will be assigned to one of four periods during the statewide firearms turkey season. Hunts will take place April 20 through 22, April 23 through 26, April 27 through 29 and April 30 through May 3.
Applications must be postmarked no later tan March 2. Successful applicants will pay a $3 administrative fee, but no payment is needed to apply.
