HAYTI, Mo. -- A disturbance Wednesday evening in Pemiscot County involved more than 100 people, crossed from one community to another and led to a number of arrests.

The Hayti Police Department was called at 7:45 p.m. to South Mallory and West Lincoln streets on the report of a fight in progress.

According to Hayti police chief Paul Sheckell, the fight apparently began in Hayti Heights and moved into Hayti.

When officers arrived, about 100 people were in the area. Catrina R. Rhines Gaines, 26; Lathica R. Hubbard, 32; Pearlie M. Rhines, 50; and Lurie J. Barringer, 47; all of Hayti, were arrested on suspicion of peace disturbance by fighting. all processed for peace disturbance by fighting and posted $122 cash bond. They each were to appear in Hayti Municipal Court on Thursday.

Sheckell said a 19-year-old man was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon. He was transported to the Pemiscot County Justice Center on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges.

A 16-year-old from Hayti was arrested on suspicion of assault and later released with a summons for assault.
