Fifteen indicted on drug charges

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A federal grand jury indicted 15 people for allegedly distributing large amounts of crack cocaine and laundering money, according to court records unsealed Tuesday.

The 15 defendants, including 10 from Boone County, were indicted on 27 counts, though not all are charged in every count, said Todd Graves, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri.

The group was indicted Nov. 2 by a grand jury in Jefferson City.

Twelve of the defendants are charged with conspiracy to distribute at least 11 pounds of powder cocaine; 12 are charged with conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce and use interstate facilities to further drug trafficking; 11 are charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering; and nine are charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute crack cocaine.

Charged in the case from Columbia are Wayne Darnell Allen, 25; Juan Marcel Hord, 30; Byron Darnell Ballinger, 42; Sheila Michelle Jeys, 35; Kimberly R. Black, 26; Summer Rae Mills, 23; Lashawnna Renne Broadus, 23; and Travis Lamont Crump, 25. Also charged was Ellis Orlando Ford of Centralia and Desmond Fontaine Turner, 23, who is currently in state custody.

Rhonda Kaye White, 44, of Houston, Texas, and Zachary Cornelius Warfield, 28, who is currently serving time in federal prison in Texas, were also indicted.

Demetrius Darnez Key, 25, and his brother Charles Key were also charged. Their addresses are listed as unknown. Another defendant who was not named but goes by the alias "T" or "Tarzan also was indicted.
