A wreck that caused one vehicle to flip and catch fire and another to overturn closed a portion of U.S. 61 on Thursday. Michael G. Rysdam, 41, of Morley, Mo., was driving south on U.S. 61 about a mile south of the Scott County town when his 1999 Pontiac crossed the center line and struck a 2007 Pontiac being driven north by Heather A. Wilson, 22, of Chaffee, Mo.
Rysdam and Ian H. Marsh, 23, of Chaffee, a passenger in Wilson's car, suffered serious injuries. Rysdam was taken to a St. Louis hospital. Marsh was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center. Wilson had moderate injuries and Maggie S. March, 2, received minor injuries. Rysdam's car caught fire when it came to rest on the roadway and Wilson's overturned and came to rest on the shoulder.
U.S. 61 was closed for about two hours accident.
