The Italian Festival of Crickets will be celebrated April 17 in an arts program at the Alma Schrader School gymnasium.

The little-known festival will be explained by Frances Crowley, a retired Southeast Missouri State University professor. Participants will learn about the holiday's customs and music, and will make a cricket cage.

The program will be presented from 9:30-11 a.m.

The activities are suitable for children, ages 5-13. They must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is $1 per person.

The program is sponsored by the Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts.
