Over the past few weeks the ferry had shortened afternoon operating hours because of the amount of debris in the river during high water. But a drop in water levels has reduced the amount of drift. Captain Edward Floyd said the ferry will make its last scheduled departure from the Kentucky landing at 5:15 p.m. and will make the last Missouri departure around 5:30 p.m. daily through February. It begins at 7 a.m. with regular river crossings during daylight hours. Passenger vehicles pay a $12 toll one-way from Dorena, Mo., to Hickman, Ky.
