A Fenton, Mo., man was killed and six others were injured in a rollover crash caused by a tire blowout Saturday morning on Interstate 55.
Charles Daniel Burnes, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene around 7:30 a.m. by Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Clifton.
Another passenger, James E. Nosser, 69, of Jonesboro, Ark., was seriously injured. Moderately injured were the van's driver, Erika Flynn, 18, and passengers Christine Flynn, 48 and Taylor Burnes, 11. Two other children, Ryan Burnes, 10, and Kaylee Burnes, 8, received minor injuries. All injured passengers are of Fenton and were taken to Saint Francis Medical Center by ambulance.
The 2002 Chevrolet Astro van carrying all seven people skidded off the right side of the road and overturned after a tire blew out around 7:15 a.m., according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. The van was traveling southbound at mile marker 107 at the time of the crash.
