ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A 19-year-old from Fenton is dead after a war-related accident in Afghanistan.

The marine is being remembered as a family man who loved life and the military.

Michael Patton's mother says her son knew he wanted to be a member of the armed forces ever since he was 5 years old.

The Fenton native joined the U.S Marines as part of an infantry unit.

The 19-year-old was a Fox High School graduate. He married his high school sweetheart.

A vehicle carrying Patton and three other Marines ran over an improvised explosive device over the weekend, killing all of them.
