An Oran, Missouri, man could spend more than four years in federal prison for possession of a stolen firearm.
The U.S. Attorney's office announced Tuesday that Joshua L. Rogers, 28, was sentenced to 57 months on one felony count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
On Sept. 19, the Scott County Sheriff's Department received a dispatch to be on the lookout for a vehicle being driven by Rogers, who was allegedly using methamphetamine and possibly was in possession of a stolen firearm.
A Scott County deputy observed Rogers driving the vehicle on Highway 77 near Benton, Missouri. The deputy stopped the vehicle and Rogers was arrested.
A search of Rogers' residence later that day resulted in the recovery of a stolen handgun under a mattress. Rogers admitted to the officers he had stolen the firearm. Rogers is a felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms.
