The Shawneetown Feed & Seed Store, located at the intersection of Highway 61 and Route CC, celebrated its 50th anniversary on March 5 with a luncheon attended by over 300 area farmers and residents.
Shawneetown Feed & Seed was opened in January 1946 by Delmar Gerharter inside the town of Shawneetown and moved to its present location in 1954. It's current owners, Rex and Glen Meyr, purchased Shawneetown Feed in 1985 from Clarence Schlimpert.
The Feed & Seed Store has maintained a diversified approach providing supplies for livestock as well as seed and fertilizer. The store services the Cape, Perry and Bollinger County area.
Rex and Glen Meyr opened a second operation in Friedham this year which is managed by Tom Sachse.
